Cross border transport can be a daunting task. It is imperative to have all forms and documents ready days before the start of the journey. This is essential to ensure smooth flowing transportation of your goods without any unnecessary problems.
Preparing your goods for cross border transport
One of the essential tasks for cross border transportation is making sure that the goods reach their buyers in perfect condition. Labelling and packaging is key to ensuring that the handling of your goods goes on without a hitch.
Transport Insurance
As you can imagine, transporting goods long distances can pose certain risks. Transport insurance is of critical importance to both the buyer and the seller. Disasters cannot be predicted but can be planned for!
Cross border transport permits
Operators must apply for cross border transportation permits to the issuing authority in the country where they are based and in South Africa, all permits are issued by the Cross Border Road Transport Agency where the necessary forms can be obtained. All applications need to be accompanied with individual or business proof of identity as well as a valid roadworthy or clearance certificate for the vehicle that will be transporting the goods.
AV Registrations
If your transport is classified as an abnormal load, Nesh Freight would need to get an AV Number which is a reference number that has been allocated to a vehicle, or combination of vehicles that has been approved by the provincial authorities.

Police Escorts
Abnormal cross border transport loads are to be escorted by traffic offices within specific provincial areas. The traffic officer in charge must be notified at least 72 hours before commencement of the transportation. With this in mind, urgent transportation of goods can be very difficult if not impossible.
Whether your load is considered a abnormal or normal, Nesh Freight has the solution for you. We are highly experience in cross border transport and can ensure quality and efficiency at all times.
